What Successful Affiliates All Have In Common
The key to affiliate success
Whenever we set out to do anything we want to succeed. We never set out to fail. What is the recipe for success? A lot of different things work for different people. In any given field you will find that those at the top share certain attributes.
So what is it that most successful affiliates have in common?
Successful affiliates share these attributes:
- Successful affiliates don’t pick products at random. They Concentrate on something that interests them enables them to be sincere and knowledgeable about the product.
- Successful affiliates research their market. Ever heard the expression “It’s like flogging a dead horse?” It’s no use jumping in and promoting something that nobody is buying. Successful affiliates give each niche they wish to target its due diligence.
- Successful affiliates plan for the long term. They implement strategies that will stand the test of time. Affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick scheme and those looking for one should look elsewhere. Hard work and constant effort are rewarded long-term.
- Successful affiliates keep their finger on the pulse. They never stand still. They are always looking for new ways to promote their current affiliate programs or products. There are a lot of people with great ideas. Successful affiliates have the ability to spot a good idea and ask themselves ‘how can I use that idea to my advantage?’
Long-term Success
There are stories of affiliates who claim to have made mega bucks virtually overnight. And this is still possible. But the days of easy money on the internet a virtually over. It is a much more transparent market nowadays with web 2.0.
These days lying, or misleading your customers in any way will see you shut down very quickly. With the invent of sites like Twitter and facebook word of mouth and bad publicity travel very fast on the internet. So stay true to yourself and your customer base and you will succeed.
Being successful in general requires hard work and dedication. The same goes for affiliate marketing. Those who are prepared to roll up their sleeves get dirty and put some work in will reap the rewards down the track.

Is 50% a good commission for an affiliate selling my eBook or is that too high/low?
Panayiotis Pete Karabetis´s last blog ..The Meaning of Tango – The Story of the Argentinian Dance
50% is a very reasonable amount to offer. Remember it’s not the persentage of each sale but the conversion rate of your product that counts in the end. Make sure you can sell it yourself before looking for affiliates. If you offer 90% on a book that sells 1 or 2 copies a month compared to a quality product with a proven 10-20 monthly sales at 50% comission. I know which one I’d choose to promote.
Hi Nick,
very helpful post I had wondered which would be the best way to go, as I have thought if its 90% discount whats wrong with it.
Depending what it is I will only get something if it offers a refund if it does not live up to its claims.
Thanks Rita,
Yes it sure helps to offer a refund. This gives the customer confidence in the quality of the product you are promoting.
